FAA Revokes CE-500 Single-Pilot Exemptions: How We Can Help You Keep Your Citation Flying

We know this news has hit many of you hard. On September 29, 2026, the FAA revoked the single-pilot exemptions for Cessna Citation CE-500 series aircraft, including the Citation and Citation I, II, S/II, V, Ultra, Bravo, Encore and Encore+. Single-pilot endorsements issued under those exemptions are no longer valid, so these jets now need a qualified second-in-command (SIC) in the right seat.

Many of you have flown these jets single-pilot for years, and this change came fast. Our goal is to help you get back to flying with as little disruption as possible.

If you completed a §61.58 proficiency check during your single-pilot training, the FAA says it still counts toward PIC requirements for two-pilot operations. You may be closer than you think.

CE-500 SIC Course: October dates

  • Oct 18–21
  • Oct 27–30

How we can help

The course is all-inclusive.

  • Ground school. It’s the same ground school as our PIC course: 16 to 20 hours, taught live online over Zoom.
  • Flight training. You fly the aircraft at Lynchburg (KLYH) to complete the requirements of FAR 61.55.
  • Flexible and fast. Ground school fits your schedule, and you’ll finish in 3 days within the class window.

Our instructors are active pilots who fly the same Citations they teach.

If you’d rather keep flying solo, we also do type ratings in every CJ and both Phenoms, which are certified for single-pilot operation.
