Joshua Marius — Team Member — Florida Flight Center

Joshua Marius
Program Director — Flight Simulator

While living in the Dominican Republic, in the mid-1990s two flight instructors (Military and Commercial) contacted Josh with interest in obtaining flight simulator software and hardware. After research, guidance from the flight instructors and several trips to the US, Josh had assembled simple stations in which many flight simulation software and hardware could be tested.

After moving to the United States, Josh obtained his Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida and was also inducted into the Order of the Engineer. In recent years, he has focused on flight simulator fidelity and transfer of training to real aircraft. As part of his research, he assembled a simulator to learn and perform sample procedures and maneuvers in a Cessna 172, Cirrus SR-22 and Cessna Citation Mustang. With professional pilot supervision, Josh was able to perform the procedures in all three aircraft in real life. He is working with the Florida Flight Center instructors to design custom flight simulators to aid in the training curriculum. Josh’s mission is to enhance the training experience by lowering costs for both the students and the instructors while providing a realistic “hands-on” experience with hardware and software simulation tools.
